Cellular: Review

Chris Evans and Kim Basinger star in this action-packed cell-phone thriller. Kim's kidnapped by strangers who want something from her husband, and Chris Evans is the only guy who can save her family. This is one of the few movies that actually lives up to the trailer's hype. The acting is good, the action is intense, and the plot is intriguing. All-around, it's a well-constructed film. William H. Macy co-stars as a veteran police officer, and he fits into the role very well. Also, Jessica Biel of Seventh Heaven fame makes a surprise appearance. One of the most interesting aspects of the movie is the cell-phone itself, which really co-stars with the rest of the cast. Every cell-phone quirk and technical limitation is worked into the story to elevate the suspense. Sometimes it seems as if the cell-phone is the protagonist and the antagonist all wrapped up into one tiny package. The end of summer has come, and Cellular finishes up the popcorn action season with a nice...ring. Sorry, I had to say it.
